About Me

My interest in Journalism began out of an intense curiosity to uncover why individuals create, destroy and build. Finding out why one does something is what interests me most. Finding out how helps me fill in the gaps.

My fascination with telling stories began in high school in my Journalism class. I discovered it was the only class where I couldn’t wait to do my assignments.

In college, I covered several protests and love the immediacy and the passion that accompany them. They are a backstory, a conviction and an action all at once. At all of them I asked why. Why are you here? Why is your message important? Asking the right question is good, but listening intently to the reply has proven even more important.

Profiles capture my attention as well. Largely due to the passionate nature of people when they discuss what they love. I interviewed a 81-year-old man who intended to sail solo nonstop around the world. Turns out he didn’t make it. Even so, the deck fittings gave out, not the man. Human fortitude is incredible.

I relish that in this job I am invited into someone else’s world and tasked with sharing it publicly. It is a job that I love and take very seriously.
